Technology Skills is a required course for all 9th grade students at Northview Middle School. It is a general
computer course that teaches the basics of the Microsoft Office suite. The class starts out with a keyboarding unit
that reviews the keyboard with emphasis on the touch-type fingering method and the continual improvement of speed and accuracy.
After reviewing the keyboard, the students will then learn about computer terminology, copyright law and some of the
main components of computer hardware. The class will then proceed to introduce them to the basics of word processing,
databases, spreadsheets, internet research, powerpoint presentations, desktop publishing and web page design.
Reminders:
Tests & Quizzes are worth 60% of your grade.
Daily work is worth 40% of your grade.
All daily assignments are due no later than the day of their respective unit test.
When a student is absent, he/she is responsible for getting the make-up work upon returning to school.
All parents & students now have access to all grading & class information via the Parent Portal under the Parent
Information menu on the Ankeny Schools website.
